Obama in 2010

Barack Obama has had some hard times during his presidency already. It is hard for any president though to take office when there is a war already happening or the country in debt. Some people are not happy with some of the decisions he has made, but others think he has done very well.Obama has had his ups and downs. With this year ending his approval is at 47% and disapproval 46%.His approval is up 2 and disapproval is down 2.

There are many good things that Obama has done while in office this year:
•Take troops out of Iraq and end the war.
•The Health care reform even though some people may not agree with this being a good thing.
•The Patent Protection and Affordable Care Act.
•Signs the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START) with the Russian President.
•Signs the Wall Street Reform bill. This helps people by protecting them from unfair practices in loans and credit cards.
•Signs Small Business Jobs and Credit Act of 2010 which helps create money for small businesses and helps them stay in business.
•Extends the Bush tax cuts.
•Signs the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act into a law.
•Signs the Don't Ask, Don't Tell Repeal Act.
•Signs the Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act.

We do not know what will happen in Obama's coming years of presidency. In 2011 though, he hopes to change and make some things better for Americans. Some of his goals for 2011 are to clear mandates for government supported institutions, consumer protection, stabilize the countrys' financial problems, support single and multifamily housing, and help housing affordability.Hopefully Obama will go through with his goals for 2011.

Republicans and Obama

For this past year the Democrats has had the majority in the House and Senate. With this years election that has changed. The Republicans have won the majority in the House. The Democrats still gain control in the Senate though. The Republicans wanted control because they don't like the way things have been happening. They have different views on the health care bill and the environment then Democrats. Now that the power has shifted the Republicans want to change things. They want to change the health care bill and some things that President Obama has done.
Republicans want to stop the health care reform because they feel that if they stop this it may stop Obama from doing other things.Another reason why they want to stop the bill is because they say it costs to much money. It will raise taxes, and also it may cause some debt for generations to come.Obama says that this reform will help cut down government spending, but the Republicans thinks it may cause the government even more debt.
Republicans don't agree with some things that Obama has done. One reason is because Obama is a Democrat. They don't agree with his views or how he is running the country. The two parties just see things differently.Republicans don't agree with the health care reform, financial reform, or the immigration problems. The Republicans hope that Obama does not run for office in 2012, or that they can get a Republican nominee to beat him.

legalize marijuana?

Many people think that marijuana should be legalized. They think it should be legalized because they say it's better then alcohol and tobacco. It's better then alcohol because it does not cause that much brain damage.Yes it may cause some memory loss for the time that you are high, but it does not cause long term problems. Also alcohol is more toxic. When you drink you are putting toxins directly into your brain, and when you smoke you don't do that.Another reason why marijuana is better is because it's not as easy to overdose on it as it is on alcohol.Marijuana is better then tobacco for many reasons. One is because it is not as bad for your lungs.Yes smoking anything is bad, but tobacco coats your lungs and give you lung cancer.Marijuana is not that bad. Also many people think it should be legalized is because it can be good for people who need it for medical reasons.

There are man reasons why our government doesn't want the drug legalized. One is because they won't be able to receive any money from it.With weed being illegal they are allowed to arrest anyone who has anything to do with the drug. Then they can put the people up for bail to earn money. One reason why they won't be able to earn money is because it is a natural drug. Also it is used so heavily they would have a hard time regulating it.The government aren't the only people who don't want it legalized though. Many tobacco and alcohol companies don't want it legalized because they fear that it might cut into their sales of their own products.

obama re-elected?

Many people are happy with Obamas doings as President. Some people are not happy though. They say that he has let down our country and is not doing a very good job.The percentage, according to gallup.com, has been very close.Forty five percent of Americans approve with Obama, and forty seven percent disapprove of him.Depending on how many people approve of him when the 2012 elections come around can tell if Obama is going to get re-elected a second term.

There can be many reasons why people don't approve of what Obama is doing right now. Some people don't agree with the health care reform bill. They think it's our choice to decide what health care we want not our governments.Another reason why they may be unhappy with him is because they think that he can change things over night.Yes he did promise that he would try to bring change to our government, but he can not change it over night. It could take a long period of time to change the things that he has promised.

There is many people that approve of him though. When Obama was first elected he promised a lot of changes and yes he has changed some of the things that he promised.Another reason why they may be happy with him is because he is trying very hard to help unemployment in America. Also he is working hard with changes in health care and in education.

election story

On November 4,2010 the House of Representatives shifted power. It is now ran by republicans, and they have the majority of the political elites.Maybe our public opinion has changed.Republicans are conservative. They don't really agree with the democrats that are in the senate because democrats are liberal. Some poeple are in both the Senate and House, and they are moderates, and don't belong with the republicans or democrats.Political socialization plays a role in how we vote.Another thing that plays a role in how we vote is political cleavages. For example Christians may vote a different way then Protestants. All of this though is an example of political ideology.

Gay Couples Rights

We judge people even though we don't know them everyday. We may not know were doing it either but it happens.Should we judge someone though just because they look different or have different veiws? No we shouldn't, so why do we discriminate against gay couples.Just as we do they want to live a normal life with a family and job.

Most states don't want gay couples to get married. Some people say it is against the Constitution because the Constitution states marriages between a man and woman. Many states, including Ohio, have passed a ban on gay marriage. Many people are upset about this, but some simply do not care.Should there be a ban on same sex marriage or no?

I don't think there should be a ban on same sex marriage.Yes, the Constitution does state that a marriage is between a man and woman, but times have changed. The government should not discriminate against peoples decision to have a same sex marriage. It is simply that persons choice.

Kasich or Strickland for governer?

Ted Strickland is trying to get re-elected to be our governor. He says that you should vote for him because he can create more jobs in Ohio, reform education here, and lower taxes.Ohio has lost many jobs in the last year. They have moved over seas, and there are thousands out of jobs.Ted Strickland says he can fix this by cutting taxes for small business owners, so that they can hire more people.Strickland wants to help education by giving money to schools and help teachers get a better curriculum. He also wants to expand eligibility for homestead tax credits to every Ohio homeowner over the age of 65 and every permanently disabled Ohioan, regardless of income.

John Kasich is Ted Stricklands opponent.Kasich wants the same things that Strickland wants, but they both have different opinions on things.Kasich says that under Ted Strickland Ohio has lost to many jobs and that our taxes are to high.Kasich wants to bring jobs back to Ohio, and lower our taxes.John Kasich and Mary Taylor recognize that Ohio’s high tax burden is hurting families, strangling businesses and stunting our ability to create jobs and revive our economy. They will work to reduce state government spending so we can reduce taxes and revive Ohio’s economy.

If i were able to vote I would vote for John Kasich. The reason why I would vote for him is not in the paragraphs above.Because of Ted Strickland my dad has lost his job.Strickland passed a bill saying if you have a felony your not allowed to have some jobs.It doesn't matter how long ago this felon was to him,My dad was convicted over 35 years ago, and he was working for a place for 9 years, and they had to let him go because of this. This has happened to many Ohio families and to me it is not fair. Also since Strickland has been in office our taxes have been high, and Kasich says that he will try to lower our taxes, and that would help a lot of families in Ohio. That is why I wouldn't vote for Ted Strickland

Now who will you decide to vote for?

John Kasich

Ted Strickland
